JANE-2 seeks to enhance the effectiveness of European joint efforts to tackle cancer by interacting with relevant Joint Actions (JAs), networks and fora.

The Joint Action on Networks of Expertise (JANE-2) is aimed at creating seven EU networks of a new kind (ΝοΕs) and seeks to enhance the effectiveness of European joint efforts to tackle cancer by interacting with relevant Joint Actions (JAs), networks and fora. This new kind of EU health networking can overcome some of the challenges currently being experienced and JANE-2 is equipped to assess such problems and work out possible solutions with the ambition to root these solutions in the European oncology community as deeply as possible.

To this end, JANE-2 will closely collaborate with EUnetCCC, CCI4EU and current ERNs on rare cancers (EURACAN, EuroBloodNet, GENTURIS and PaedCAN), in an attempt to maximize the value of past and ongoing networking experiences and harmonize the new NoEs as much as possible with other EU networks.

Furthermore, the ambition of JANE-2 is to involve the whole European oncology community pragmatically, in an attempt to bring about the creation of networks capable of being effective, appropriate, and sustainable. To this end, the main objective of the communication strategy of JANE-2 will be not only to make the European oncology community fully aware of the JA and NoEs but also reach out to all crucial players to get them involved in the NoEs, as well as to make sure that the current problems of EU health care networking may be properly addressed.

Already, different target groups have been identified, including comprehensive cancer centres, ERNs, patient advocacy groups, scientific societies, collaborative research groups, industries, policymakers at the level of the EU and MSs, general audience, and all citizens. A dissemination strategy is being developed to identify key messages and appropriate communication channels for each target group.

All the above target groups and stakeholders are called to get involved in certain JANE-2 and NoEs activities, as this involvement is expected to assist in the accomplishment of JANE’s objectives and maximize the effectiveness of European joint efforts against cancer. Should you be interested in getting actively involved in this major effort, please fill in the “Get Involved” platform to express your interest and notify the JANE-2 Dissemination and Communication (jane_dissemination@eie.gr) as well as Coordination team (Jane_Coordination@istitutotumori.mi.it).
